White Pine

Located in the east-central area of the state, White Pine County has an estimated present population of 10,025, consisting of approximately 3,673 households. White Pine County ranks 11th in Nevada for Annual Median Household Income (AMHI), at $49,587 per household. In 2017 the county ranked 13th in total population among Nevada’s seventeen counties. Ely, the county seat, is the only city in the County and is centrally located in the county at the confluence of U.S. Highways 6, 50 and 93.

The majority of the county’s residents live in Ely and it is the only defined housing market area in the county. Unincorporated areas within the county include Baker, Lund and Ruth. These unincorporated communities or census-designated places (CDP), include less than 800 people combined, and are approximately 6.5 to 63 miles northwest, east-southeast or south of Ely and are not considered housing market areas for White Pine County. The other concentration of population in the area is McGill, which is included within the Ely housing market. At the time this information was collected, 67.4% of the county’s population was employed in the Private Sector, and the remaining 32.6% in Government related jobs.
