Located in the east-central portion of the state, Eureka County has an estimated present population of 2,103, consisting of approximately 876 households. There are no incorporated areas within the county. The Town of Eureka serves as the county seat, is centrally located in the County, and is a Census Designated Place (CDP).

Other population areas within the county include Crescent Valley, Emigrant Pass, Beowawe and Palisade. These unincorporated communities are located approximately 83 to 128 miles north or north-northwest of the Town of Eureka and, except for Crescent Valley, are not considered housing market areas within Eureka County. In Eureka County, the private sector makes up over 54% of area employment. Local government makes up the next largest employment at 25.8%, and those persons who are self-proprietors, state government workers, or are otherwise self-employed or work at area non-profits make of the balance of the County’s employment base.
