Located in the east-central area of the state, Lincoln County has an estimated present population of 5,233, consisting of approximately 1,951 households. Lincoln County ranks 15th, and one of the state’s lowest Annual Median Household Income (AMHI), at $37,600 per household. In 2017 the county ranked 13th in total population among Nevada’s seventeen counties. Pioche, the county seat, is an unincorporated town in the county and is located approximately 25 miles north of the city of Caliente.

Caliente is the only city in the county. Census Designated Places (CDP’s) in Lincoln County include Alamo, Beaverdam, Bennett Springs, Dry Valley, Hiko, Mount Wilson, Panaca, Rachel and Ursine. Unincorporated areas within the county include Ash Springs, Barclay, Carp, Coyote Springs, Crestline, Etna and Pony Springs. For purposes of the information provided, the two defined housing market areas within the county include only the Caliente Region and Alamo. At the time this information was collected, 48% of the county’s population was employed in the Private Sector, and the remaining 52% in Government related jobs.
