Humboldt County is located in the northwest-central area of the state, with an estimated present population of 18,222, consisting of approximately 6,933 households. With the state’s 4th ranked Annual Median Household Income (AMHI) at $62,071 per household, the county ranked 9th in total populous among Nevada’s seventeen counties in 2017. The City of Winnemucca, located in the southwestern portion of the county, is the county seat and the only incorporated city in the county. Unincorporated areas within the county include the towns of McDermitt, Denio, Golconda, Orovada, Paradise Valley, Stone House and Valmy. These communities, with a total of 1,075 people combined, are situated approximately 166 to 100 miles north or east of Winnemucca and are not defined as significant housing market areas in Humboldt County. At the time this information was collected, 81.1% of the county’s population was employed in the Private Sector, and the remaining 18.9% in Government related jobs.
